How do I become a member?
Memberships are available for purchase online or in person at the Visitor Centre.
What membership types are available?
Individual: Access for one person
£75.00 (one-off payment for 12 months)
£65.00 (annual Direct Debit)
Joint: Access for two people
£90.00 (one-off payment for 12 months)
£80.00 (annual Direct Debit)
Family: Access for two adults and up to four children (ages 5–16)
£105.00 (one-off payment for 12 months)
£95.00 (annual Direct Debit)
For Joint or Family memberships, the named member(s) can either visit together or one can bring a guest.
Membership is an amazing way to support the work that we do here at Painshill, however entry is not guaranteed and is subject to weather conditions. Painshill reserves the right to limit or restrict access without prior notice.
When does my membership start and expire?
Memberships are valid for one year from the date of activation. Gift memberships start from the day the recipient activates them. Start dates can be delayed, this must be advised at the time of purchase either via email or verbally to the team in the Visitor Centre; entrance will not be permitted before the requested start date.
Can I pay monthly?
Unfortunately, we do not currently offer monthly payments, but this is something we are exploring.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid allows Painshill to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you spend at no extra cost to you! As a charity, this additional support helps us to preserve the beauty and history of our landscape, fund essential conservation work, and enhance visitor experience – it’s an easy way to make a big difference!
Is Gift Aid available on memberships?
Yes! By choosing to Gift Aid your purchase, you can help us even more – at no extra cost to you! Your generosity makes a huge different to us here. Gift Aid can be applied to memberships and tickets purchased for personal use if you are a UK taxpayer. It is not applicable to gift memberships.
Do you offer a lifetime membership?
We do not currently offer lifetime memberships, but you can register your interest by contacting us at 01932 868 113 or emailing membership@painshill.co.uk
What if I need a carer to assist me?What are the entry allowances with each type of membership?
Complimentary entry is available for essential carers when accompanying someone who requires assistance. We kindly request that carers provide evidence of their carer status, such as a letter from a healthcare provider, a DWP letter or an ID Card.
We have a selection of wheelchairs, wheeled walkers and walking sticks available to visitors (subject to availability).
After purchasing Membership:
How can I visit before receiving my membership card?
Online purchases: Bring your print-at-home membership confirmation email for entry.
In-person, mail, or phone purchases: The Visitor Centre team can verify your membership on our system with a valid form of ID.
We endeavour to get permanent membership materials dispatched within 10 working days.
Can I change the names on my membership?
Name changes can be made at renewal.
For immediate changes, all current membership cards must be returned before new ones can be issued.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my membership?
Upgrade: Pay the difference and enjoy the benefits of the new membership level. Extensions are only applied if upgraded within one month before renewal.
Downgrade: This option is only available at renewal.
Direct Debits
Why choose Direct Debit?
Paying by Direct Debit is easy, secure, and protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. If you choose to pay annually by Direct Debit, you’ll save £10 on your membership.
Direct Debit also helps Painshill by reducing administration costs and providing the confidence to invest in vital conservation work. Membership cards will be sent out to you, after your initial payment has been taken.
How does Direct Debit work?
Annual Direct Debit: Payments are made in advance for the entire year. Payment is taken on the 1st or the 15th of the month, if this date falls on a bank holiday or weekend, payment will be taken on the first working day after this date.
Monthly Direct Debit: Unfortunately, we do not currently offer monthly payment options.
When you sign up for Direct Debit, a payment schedule will be included in your welcome pack, outlining the amount and date of payment.
What happens at renewal?
Your Direct Debit membership will automatically renew at the end of the year, ensuring uninterrupted access to the park. We will send you a reminder letter before your renewal date. Once your direct debit payment has been received we will send out your new membership card and payment schedule.
You’ll have the opportunity to cancel your membership 10 working days prior to the payment date if you do not wish to renew. This must be done in writing, verbal cancellations will not be accepted.
Important notes about Direct Debit memberships:
Payment will be collected up to 7 days before the expiry date of your current membership.
To update your details or cancel, please notify us in writing at least 10 working days before your payment date, verbal cancellations will not be accepted.
Membership cancellations received after payment has been collected cannot be refunded.
You will receive your card after your first payment has been collected.
Can I pay for gift memberships by Direct Debit?
Gift memberships cannot be paid by direct debit.

Membership Cards
How many cards are issued per membership?
One card is issued per membership. Additional cards can be purchased for £5.
What if my card is lost, stolen, or damaged?
Lost, stolen, or damaged cards can be replaced for £5.00. Old cards will be deactivated, and replacements can be requested at the Visitor Centre or via membership@painshill.co.uk.
Can I visit without my card?
Only physical cards are accepted for entry. Photocopies or photos of cards are not permitted and will not be accepted for entry.
If you are waiting for your membership card to arrive, then we will need a valid form of ID matching the name on the account, needing to look up details may cause a delay to entry, without your physical card you will not be eligible for your members discount on purchases made either in the tea room or the shop.
How do I use my membership discount?
Our retail team will need to scan your card at the till to be able to redeem your discount on eligible purchases.
Do I need a photo to be attached to my membership?
Yes, we require all memberships to have a photo attached to them, this will be taken by the team on your first visit to the park when you receive your membership card.
Gift Memberships
Can I purchase a membership as a gift?
Yes! Gift memberships can be purchased online, at the Visitor Centre, or by contacting membership@painshill.co.uk.

Can gift memberships be sent directly to the recipient?
Yes, during checkout, specify the recipient’s address for the gift pack.
How do I activate a gifted membership?
Contact the team at membership@painshill.co.uk or bring the activation form included in your gift pack when you visit. Temporary gift cards can be used until permanent materials arrive (within 10 working days).

We like to offer members more benefits with 2 for 1 entry offers to different Surrey attractions. Our current offers are:

What time does the car park close?
Our carpark is locked promptly at closing time, please ensure that your vehicle is removed before this time to avoid being locked in.
Can I stay in the landscape after closing time?
No, the landscape is locked promptly at closing time, for your safety and to help us maintain the landscape, we kindly ask that you exit before closing.

Things to See & Do
Painshill is an award-winning 18th century landscape garden where you are invited to walk around a work of art. Winding paths will take you on a journey to discover a living canvas with beautiful vistas and dramatically placed garden buildings. Stroll around the Serpentine Lake, wander through woodland and promenade past follies, including the Ruined Abbey, Gothic Temple and Turkish Tent.
